Tom's Reviews
Tom's Reviews thumbnail
Tom's Reviews If you like the music of Atheist, Roger Patterson era to be specific, then Inscribed needs to be in your collection. They attack the Death Metal genre with an old school mindset, while never feeling dated, nor does it ever feel stale, derivative, or boring. There's also plenty of Death, Thrash, and Tech-Death to go around in these 3 tracks, and it will most assuredly be on my year end list for 2024. Buy it now, and play it as loudly as you can. Favorite track: Silent Oblivion.
StillbirthMockery
StillbirthMockery thumbnail
StillbirthMockery Technical death/thrash combining Sadus-esque savagery and bass-happiness with the revolving door of riffs songwriting that defined a lot of classic American death metal.

While it is very overtly "tech", the execution laces it directly into the storming aggression and it helps enforce the variety in the structure. Riffs clash in feeding frenzies then split apart for tasteful noodling to emerge, and a number of (awesome) blast beats frequently toss their hat into the fray. Brainy and barbaric.

The hellish door of tragedy Has rusted locks and chains An endless desert of neglect Where caution never reigns Melting down into a mass Pulsing with pain and hate Any traces of mankind Are easily erased The ones who were in charge Will find compassion easily feigned And leave behind the grey debris Pelted with acid rains Beating heart growing faster now Cavern deep within the grey Malignant tyrant never to be found Turning all into clay Evil cruelly takes its final form Prepare for acid rains from a deadly storm (Solos — K. Tyler-Mills & M. Alvarez) Evil cruelly takes its final form Prepare for acid rains from a deadly storm Beating heart growing faster now Cavern deep within the grey Malignant tyrant never to be found Turning all into clay

Our sky, cloaked in black No longer do we sleep under starlight We can see our own domain But to the cosmos, we are blind Does mother nature know this? Her sky turned from light to dark Once speckled in milky nebulæ Our view has lost its spark Sailing through an endless sea of void Is our planet's destiny When our lights overpower those divine A silent oblivion we shall see Cycles! of life disrupted Nocturnal and diurnal start to blur The fake day leads beings off to die Fading with cries that are never heard Turtles begin to chase the lights Of a false moon and stars of man's creation Our hands were the ones used to craft The tools of our planet's damnation (Solo — M. Alvarez) Sailing through an endless sea of void Is our planet's destiny When our lights overpower those divine A silent oblivion we shall see Sky has turned Bible black Celestial bodies Gone from sight Nothing left For us to see Condemned to endless Silent night (Solo — K. Tyler-Mills & M. Alvarez)

I see you and hear you I can almost feel your curved blade Sharp as a razor Cold and fine leaving invisible cuts Which bleed my mind Our meeting is never to be For when I see you I will be gone Any warmth in my heart will vanish Any last words will be said And I'll be cold My husk will bear witness to your beauty But my eyes will not, my mind will not No feeling of your blade's edge would reach me When I'm cold and gone My husk will bear witness to your beauty But my eyes will not, my mind will not No feeling of your blade's edge would reach me When I'm cold and gone And how lonely must you be In your own kingdom of death An empress of no-one, nothing No "is," no "will be" An empress with no constituents An empress of cold, of death, of nothing (Solo — M. Alvarez) My husk will bear witness to your beauty But my eyes will not, my mind will not No feeling of your blade's edge would reach me When I'm cold and gone And how lonely must you be In your own kingdom of death An empress of no-one, nothing No "is," no "will be" An empress with no constituents An empress of cold, of death, of nothing
